Retro Diner Chairs are back

Retro Diner Chairs are back

Retro Diner Chairs have become very popular lately.  You can find them at popular stores like Target and Williams Sonoma and you can find them online at all sorts of different stores.  The truth of the matter is that it doesn’t really matter where you buy the chair.  What matters is who made the chair.  There are several different companies that manufacture diner chairs.  Back in the 1950s and 1960s there used to be a bunch of companies, but now there are just a few.  The two biggest manufacturers of retro diner chairs in the USA are Richardson Seating Corporation and Vitro Seating.  Richardson Seating is located in Chicago, IL while Vitro is located in St Louis.  Richardson Seating has been in business for over 30 years while Vitro has been in business much longer.  Both companies make an excellent diner chair.  The main difference I have seen between the two chairs is that Vitro uses a 16 gauge steel frame while Richardson Seating uses a 14 gauge steel frame.  For those of you not familiar with this measurement, the lower the number, the thicker the steel.  There are many different diner chairs that come in from China and other Asian countries.  I have seen a few good ones, but most of what I see is pretty much junk.  When searching for a diner chair, it is best to search for a commercial diner chair.  Commercial diner chairs are built to last at diners, cafes, and commercial restaurant establishments.  If they can last at a 24 hour diner, they are sure to last as kitchen chairs for years to come.  We highly recommend diner chairs built by Richardson Seating.  Richardson Seating does not sell direct, but you can buy its chairs at www.barstoolsandchairs.com.
